Design Wall Monday

As shocked as I am to admit it, I actually have something new on my design wall:

The block is for a quilt along I am hosting for the Old Red Barn Co. I will be posting a tutorial and videos weekly for the next several weeks. Check back often!

The applique is a border for Pat Sloan's Meadow Breeze quilt. Someday, I hope to actually finish that quilt!

I am making no progress on my Meadow Breeze applique quilt. My one-inch nine-patch quilt is coming along a bit.

Design Wall Monday

Finally, something new on my design wall!

I am working on a new quilt pattern and on the left are some of the pieces that will go in it. All from stash -- yay!

Design Wall Monday

My design wall has looked the same for weeks:

I spent all of last week at the AQS Show in Lancaster, PA and did absolutely no stitching!

For your enjoyment, I took some photos of the quilt on my frame today:

My design wall looks like this:

I can't see my design wall right now. I am setting up at the AQS Show in Lancaster, PA! If you possibly can, come and see this show. And come and say hi to me at the Handi Quilter booth.

If you can't come out to the show, you can spend some time checking out my quilt videos:

Design Wall Monday

Since my design wall hasn't changed at all in a month:

I thought I'd show some photos of the border of a quilt I just finished for a customer:

It was a nice white border, just begging for some fun quilting!

Design Wall Monday

When working with applique, the changes in the design wall are subtle.

Progress on Meadow Breeze:

I finished the applique on the inner white border. Next step is another white corner block.

You may not notice the change, but I did make progress on my Meadow Breeze quilt:

Did you know that there are 87 separate pieces of applique on that white border? I have only 8 more pieces on that border before I start to work on another corner or side block.

Slow progress is still progress!

Design Wall Monday

The blizzard that left us nearly two feet of snow also left us with power so I can post this morning. We are quite grateful!--(for the power, not the snow)

Meadow Breeze by Pat Sloan is coming along. I'm working hard at hand appliqueing all of those little pieces. I'm having so much fun working on this quilt! I'll be sad when the quilt is finished, but I'll be happy to see it on my kitchen wall, the one that has been waiting for a quilt for almost nine years now!

My design was has changed drastically. Maybe that means I'm making progress?

The top block is from Ping by Pinwheels. After I finish squaring each block, there's still a pieced border and more applique to go.

The large quilt is Meadow Breeze by Pat Sloan. I'm running way behind on this one, but I adore it! Hopefully it will hang above my kitchen table some day, after hundreds of little pieces of applique are done, of course.

So, maybe I'm not making progress, but I do have an awareness of how much I still need to do!

In the Bahamas, between walking on the beach:

and eating fresh coconuts:

I got some hand sewing done. When I wasn't napping, of course.

I finished piecing and appliqueing all of the blocks in my Ping quilt from Pinwheels.

This quilt isn't anywhere close to being done, so stay tuned.

Design Wall Monday

Every time I looked at my design wall this week, I was shocked to find a new quilt on it. The last quilt was on the wall for at least three months! Here's my new view:

The top block is from Meadow Breeze by Pat Sloan and the rest of the blocks are from an old Pinwheels block of the month.

I have some great news about my Lucky Charms quilt:

1. I finished the hand applique
2. I'm closer to picking my inner border
3. I finished the hand applique!

So, do you like red, orange, yellow, or blue?

Or maybe lime green?

Design Wall Monday

Oh, the places I've been! And my applique has been with me. It has been safe in a zippered pouch and didn't see the light of day even once. Not in Pennsylvania, nor in Ohio, nor in Georgia, nor in Maryland, nor in New Hampshire, nor in Nebraska, nor in Utah, nor in Texas.

I opened the pouch when I got home from Houston last week and I actually made some progress!

Most of the progress, unfortunately, was during the disastrous Steeler loss last night.

Since the applique is almost done, I really need help picking the color of the inner border. Any thoughts?

Not much progress

I told you this would take a while:

I didn't make much progress on this quilt during my trip to Atlanta, but...

and....

  • My brother-in-law got married!
It was a whirlwind of family wonderfulness! Not much down-time in the hotel and I slept for the whole flight home. Maybe next week I'll have more progress?

A little progress on my Lucky Charms quilt.

I'm hand appliqueing, so it will take a while.

Design Wall Monday

This past weekend, I taught classes at a great shop in New Hamphire. I stayed at a surprisingly nice hotel and turned it into my personal sewing room. I didn't get much done, but this is the start of a non-traditional wedding quilt for a non-traditional couple.

Design Wall Monday

I actually have something new on my design wall this week:

The lime green and black pieces are for a bag that my daughter-in-love and I are making together. The pink half-square triangles are for a quilt I'm thinking about designing. The scrappy squares are from a pattern called Ruffles.

My design wall remains the same, so I'm once again substituting photos of what is on my longarms.

This is a for a friend:

This is for a friend, too:

Let's play "Date that fabric" with the bottom photo. Any guesses? How about "Name that fabric line"?
