Design Wall Monday

Oh, the places I've been! And my applique has been with me. It has been safe in a zippered pouch and didn't see the light of day even once. Not in Pennsylvania, nor in Ohio, nor in Georgia, nor in Maryland, nor in New Hampshire, nor in Nebraska, nor in Utah, nor in Texas.

I opened the pouch when I got home from Houston last week and I actually made some progress!

Most of the progress, unfortunately, was during the disastrous Steeler loss last night.

Since the applique is almost done, I really need help picking the color of the inner border. Any thoughts?

Head on over to Judy's blog to see what everyone else is doing.

The white and purple do not seem to work for me. The black or the red are the best choices - black helps to unify the piece and pull in the outer triangle areas that have the black to frame the center medallion. The Red makes the center medallion pop and also draws out the red that is part of the applique.

I have to say....I dig the purple with it. It isn't usually one of my favorite colors, but it looks good here. The red seems to be too Christmas-y (unless it IS a Christmas quilt), the black closes it in too much and the creme, well it is just not pizzazzy enough :) Looks good Debbie!

Howdy Miss Debby,

I was immediately drawn to the red; changed my mind to purple - looked away, back again, back to red!

I am with John. I like the red and the black. I lean more to the red although I do agree with Christy that it is a bit Christmasy with the green. The purple just does not strike me.

I really like the red -- it makes the center pop! The purple seems like it's being introduced at a party where everyone is headed out the door. Does that make sense? The white is just there and the black blends in too much. Of course, we all have different opinions, don't we? Which makes us not very helpful! What is most pleasing to YOU?!? :)

I think that the red would be the best! It makes the center really shine!

I just came back and had a second look - I wonder if a nice Lime Green would do - it could pick up the green from the triangle blocks that frame the piece as well as from the center of the applique. Yes - No?

I'm a green girl myself - like the black but I also think that a little more red for an accent would be cool

I favor the red or purple but it sure depends on what comes after that border! Glad your applique is so well traveled :)

Although I much prefer purple, I think the red looks much better.

Very pretty quilt. I like the red or the black. Can't decide between the two of those.

The purple would be my choice. Although you easily can do the red or both or even four different where I'd include a teal and yellow. Using red with the green setting triangles speaks Christmas to me; I can't seem to get away from that thought. I'm like you travel around thinking there has to be a little bit of time to catch a stitch--but is there ever?
