Today is MY Day!!!

Today is my day on the Tie One On Blog Hop!

My super-talented friend, Scott Hansen of Blue Nickel Studios, designed a wonderful line of batik fabrics for Banyan Batiks/Northcott, inspired by vintage men's ties.  Watch an interview I did with him about his Tie One On line HERE.

If I had to describe this fabric line in one word, I'd choose "wearable."  They are so wearable that I decided to make an infinity scarf using these fabrics and my Scarves to Share Cutie Pattern.

I love that red print so much that I used it twice in this scarf.

The weather is turning to fall here in upstate New York, and that means boots and sweaters and scarves.  I have my first new scarf of the season ready to wear!

And wear it I did!

Cutie Patterns are written to have very little waste.  I took what little fabric was left from my scarf and sewed the pieces together:

Then I grabbed my Postcard Cutting Tool, stabilizer, and white fabric for the back of the postcard:

I fused the layers together and trimmed with my Postcard Trimming Tool:

I zig-zagged around the edges and put them in a cellophane envelope for mailing:

Now these lovely men's wear fabric postcards will spread a little message of love through the mail.

Speaking of men's wear, this is my favorite men's wear look:

I'd love to see that look come back!

I love the look of a man especially my boys when they wear a tuxedo. The stream line looks just puts a smile on my face... The Tie One On line from Scott is just stunning and the scarf Debby looks fantastic

I too love the men's wear look you picked. He wears it so well. That fabric looks so very very yummy.

I also love the look of a long coat on a man, but I'll take a leather or oil skin duster over jeans and cowboy boots! (Like you, I love the red print in this collection!) Christina, bowieATalumniDOTcalvinDOTedu

What a wonderful way to use these fabrics! I wouldn't have thought of this. The scarf is very pretty.
I love the Western look with the cowboy boots and hat. Thanks for the chance.

I love pull on sweater vests.

I like a casual look with a lightweight sweater, shirt and tie.

This is great looking fabric.

Because every girl's crazy about a well-dressed man, I have to agree that a well tailored suit is my favorite look. I even find myself looking at men in ill-fitting suits and thinking, to myself of course, "I need to take you shopping for a suit that fits you properly." LOL

To the Nines! Top hat and tails!

I love a classic suit and tie.

Lisa Marie said...

Oh yes, a man in a nice suit is just the best. Your scarf is gorgeous, hooray for the arrival of scarf weather!

Well dressed suited men do look good and conquers up dreams. I like the pencil leg pants with the fitted jackets, bow tie, loafers no socks or some really funky socks, shades and a small brimmed hat. Definitely a younger funkier look. But I also like a casual look with jeans, low cut boots, small brim hats, shades and nice patterned shirt.

What backing did you use for the postcard?

Beautiful scarf and I love the postcards too. My favorite look for men’s wear is a nice suit and tie.

I love that Gary Grant look as well and the Suit and wonderful ties work in Noir Films. I watch them on TCM Saturday night on Noir Alley. Doesn't matter who is the star and the bad guy or both. They are always dress great and have wonderful ties. My e-mail is ryr@tenmilepass.com

I like the Western look. Guys in western style hats and boots. Also like the scarf they have tied around their neck, although I have no idea why they wear them.

What a fun scarf!
My favorite look is probably the suit and tie look you posted; it is hard to really say though bc my husband lives in t-shirts and slacks.

I love Corduroy. Fuzzy, soft and button down. I love the scarf and will have to make it. Love the red too!

The Cary style does it for me too - including the hat! I can't bear the trousers at half mast style. And for the cowboy look - that's nice too (for the trips to town Sunday best) - basically smart. Although I do rather fancy Naval uniform!
The scarf is lovely.

Mercedes said...

Great Scarf! I've always been a fan of the jeans and blazer look.

A man in uniform! Specifically a man in a Navy uniform stole my heart. But ... a Marine in full dress uniform ... that will always catch my eye.

Tina said...

I totally agree with you! :) Your quilting is stunning as is this fabric bundle in all the colorways.

Jenhixon said...

I don’t have a favorite but I like a polished casual look, a tux with an unbuttoned shirt ala James Bond.

Your scarf is beautiful! and it looks amazing on you. I love a man in western wear. Another person commented about a man in uniform, I have to agree! My son is a US Marine and he is gorgeous in his dress uniform. Well, he’s gorgeous in his cammies as well, hehe.

But you can't go wrong with a well tailored suit

I will vote for the Cary Grant look! Your scarf is beautiful. Love the prints and colors you used.

I love the Cary Grant look, but also like George Cloony in a tux, kind of the modern Cary Grant!

Anne D said...

I love how good men look in suits!!!
Thanks for the chance to win such gorgeous fabric.

tammik said...

Cary Grant did look utterly wonderful in a dashing suit or tux didn't he. Not many even try to pull that off any more. But then alot can be said for a trim man in a good pair of jeans!

Janie said...

Your scarf turned out beautiful. I love men wearing dusters. I love the look!

I love the one you picked. He looks great.

I can tell you I've never before thought about a favorite mens wear look. However, I do like the look of a suit with vest, so I will go with that.

Thanks for sharing the quick and easy postcards. I’ve not made any but it may be time to start.

I'm not really sure. I like seeing men in suits, but I like a casual look too. And Western style is nice as well.
