I went on a mini-rant on Facebook today about a book-to-movie adaptation (A Little Princess -- the book wins!).
That rant prompted some discussion about what books we quilters read. I mostly listen to audio books while I quilt or drive, and save my reading time for books that are not available in audio format.
I have two very large (secret) quilt projects in my studio right now. I plan to stay home during this next snowstorm and quilt, Quilt, QUILT!
To keep up my quilting motivation, and to stay off Facebook while I am working, I am listening to Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
Please don't judge me for enjoying Young Adult Fiction. They can be decent books and usually move fast to keep my interest while I am quilting for hours on end.
I downloaded the audio file from my library. I went to the library's audio site, clicked on "available now" and selected this because I love Cinderella. (From A Little Princess to Cinderella -- are you sensing a theme?) I'm about 25% into the book and it's pretty good so far...
Do you have a library card? Does your library lend audiobooks? Does your library support audio downloads? Check out your local library!

I love library audio books...esp since I don't have to leave the house to check them out. :) I just discovered Jodi Thomas--Welcome to Harmony. Light, easy, breezy but held my interest. Had to immediately start the next book of the series. Time to go in and sew. :)
I love to read. . .in any format. At my library they consider me a "power user" since I am always reserving books through the interlibrary loan program.
I have borrowed books on tape & books on CD but have never done the download "thing" through the library. . . but I have gotten the free downloads for my Kindle & Nook.
I just need to find time to actually sit & read --- which is usually when DH is driving!
My recent reads have been about clutter & organization. . . so it's not "light" reading but it is helping me to get the house in a better working state.
Have a great day.
I mostly read young adult, scifi, and fantasy myself....plus kid books as well. I get enough real life without reading about it....:)
Cinder is very good. I want to read/listen to Scarlet. It is a variation of little red riding hood.
Hello, I am a Young Adult Librarian in a public library in Arkansas. Yes, Cinder is a great book. If you like it you will love the rest of the series. My library is wonderful! On top of all of the materials that you can get in the library, we also have online services like OverDrive (ebooks & downloadable audiobooks), OneClickDigital (downloadable audiobooks), Zinio (free online magazines), Freegal (free music), PowerSpeak Languages (free language software), and so much more. I LOVE my library!
Don't apologize for your young adult reading/listening. Usually they are very well written in a tighter format. I love children's books ...a story gets told with pictures in about 32 pages. They often have info / story line that adults get on a completely different level. I was an elementary school librarian and loved to order books and esp open the boxes of new books. I really love audio books, downloadable books. I read as many as three or four books a week. Sometimes I don't get to quilting cause I'm so busy reading.... Sigh.
